What affects a Kawasaki quad's price
Hour meters that don't work
Tell us the reading if there is one, though plenty of old Bayous have a meter that died years ago and never got replaced, in which case the state of the frame does the talking.
Brute Force 4WD and the front diff lock
4WD should engage cleanly, and the front diff lock should bite on models that have one. Mention a reluctant gearbox too.
V-twin belt and CV boots
The Brute Force's belt drive and its CV boots take a beating. Split boots and slipping belts are common repairs, and we price them in, so there's no need to fix one before you sell.
Winch and racks
A working winch and straight, uncracked racks add value on a working Kawasaki. Leave them fitted.
KLF Bayou age and originality
On an old Bayou, a complete, original machine is worth more than a bodged one. Original plastics and racks help.
Receipts for a Bayou, V5C for a Brute Force
Old farm Bayous rarely have a V5C, so a receipt is normal. Road-registered Brute Forces come with one. We check your ID either way.
From the Brute Force to the Bayou
If you want to sell your Kawasaki quad, start with the model. A Brute Force sells to a different buyer from an old Bayou, so we price them differently.
Brute Force 750 and 650
The Brute Force 750 4x4i arrived for 2005 with a 749cc 90-degree V-twin and independent rear suspension, and power steering (EPS) followed on later models. It's the one for towing and estate work, and it's still in Kawasaki's UK range. Smaller V-twins from the same family carry the 650 badge.
Brute Force 300
A small 2WD single. Think yard jobs and paddocks.
KLF 300 Bayou and friends
The KLF 300 Bayou came in 2WD and 4x4 versions, with the smaller KLF 220 and 250 alongside. All are simple air-cooled quads from the late 1980s onwards. Plenty are still working. A Brute Force or Bayou that won't go
A seized front diff doesn't write off a Brute Force. Nor does a snapped belt. The V-twin is still worth plenty, and so is the suspension. Kawasaki frame numbers: by the left front wheel
Kawasaki's service manual for the Brute Force 750 shows the frame number stamped on the frame beside the left front wheel. Older KLF Bayous and other models can have it elsewhere, so our step-by-step frame number guide helps if you're stuck. Send a clear photo and we can check it before we drive out.

It does, as long as the belt and CV boots are healthy and the front diff is quiet. Service history helps, so mention it.

Our old Bayou has no V5C, just a receipt. Is that OK?
That's normal. Most farm Bayous were never registered. We check the receipt against the frame number and your ID.
