What we look at
Speed limiter and tether kill switch
Most branded kids' quads have an adult-adjustable throttle or speed limiter. Some also have a tether kill switch. Present and working adds value.
Plastics and tyres
Scuffed plastics are normal. Cracked or missing panels and bald or split tyres come off the price.
Hours of use
Most kids' quads have no hour meter, so tell us roughly how often it was ridden and for how many seasons.
Original receipt
Kids' quads are almost never registered. The original receipt is the best proof you own it.
Selling a kids' quad, the short version
To sell your kids' quad, send us the make and model with a few photos, and a rough idea of its age. Branded ones hold their value well. Parents buying second-hand look for a Yamaha or Honda badge. Cheap unbranded kids' quads are a different story. Parts are hard to find and buyers are wary of them. Tell us what you've got and we'll be straight with you about whether we can make an offer.
Electric kids' quads
Electric kids' quads suit younger riders because they're quiet and simple. Battery health matters most here. Tell us the voltage and roughly how old the battery is. Still got the charger? Say so. Then we'll tell you plainly whether we can make an offer.
Safety kit that adds value
Parents buying a used kids' quad check the safety kit first, so it matters to the price.
The speed limiter
On most youth quads it's an adjustable screw on the throttle housing, and some models have a second limiter as well. The Yamaha YFM90R, for example, has a throttle limiter screw plus a removable engine speed limiter. If a limiter has been taken off or wound right out, tell us. Include any parts you removed.
The tether kill switch
A lanyard clipped to the rider that stops the engine if they fall off. Some kids' quads have one from new, and some parents fit one later. Check yours works. Leave it on.
Everything else
Brakes should work. So should the throttle cable, smoothly. A seat that isn't split helps. A photo of the throttle housing shows us the limiter is there.
Outgrown it? Selling up to buy bigger
Most kids' quads get sold because the rider grew. The money can go towards whatever comes next. That might be a bigger quad. It might be nothing.

Most Sur-Ron, Talaria, Stark Varg and E Ride Pro models are not road legal. They're for private land with the landowner's permission, and tracks. We never suggest riding a non-road-legal bike on public roads.

Do you buy cheap unbranded kids' quads?
Tell us the make and model first. Branded machines are much easier for us to price, and we'll be honest if we can't make an offer.
The speed limiter is missing. Does it matter?
It can affect the price. Tell us, and if you've still got the parts, include them with the quad.
Can I sell the kit too?
Helmets and body armour are hard to resell second-hand, so we normally just price the quad. Mention any kit in the form.
I've lost the receipt. Can I still sell it?
Tell us. A bank statement showing the payment can help, and so can the old advert. We'll look at the frame number as well.
