How we price a Talaria
Pack size and health
Every Talaria here is 60V. Capacity is what differs: 38Ah on the Sting, 40Ah on the XXX, 45Ah on the Sting R. How old is the pack? Where's it kept? Any health or cycle reading helps.
Controller and regen settings
Usual changes? Aftermarket controllers and bigger packs. Name the parts and the fitter. Good parts fitted well can help.
Talaria charger and both keys
Both keys and the original charger should go with the bike, plus any stock parts you took off.
VIN matched to the receipt
An invoice from the dealer whose VIN matches the frame earns the most. On an L1E, the V5C does too.
Still in L1E trim?
Registered and still in its road-legal state? Then an L1E is priced as a road bike. Derestricted ones aren't, so tell us.
The Talaria range, in short
To sell your Talaria, start with the model. Sellers don't always use the codes the same way, so a photo of the frame plate or VIN label settles it.
Talaria Sting (TL3000, MX3)
The original Sting runs a 60V 38Ah battery, and we'll buy one modified or stock, or in L1E form.
Talaria Sting R (TL4000, MX4)
The newer, higher-spec Sting has a 60V 45Ah pack and an OLED display. Regeneration is adjustable on it, and the rear wheel is wider. It usually fetches more than the original, and our Sting versus Sting R price guide shows how to tell them apart.
Talaria XXX (X3, TL2500)
The lighter bike, on a 60V 40Ah pack built from LG 21700 cells, about 2.4kWh in all. It's since been replaced by the XXX Pro. See what an XXX or X3 is worth to us.
Talaria's L1E road versions
In the UK, Talaria also sells each of these bikes as an L1E with road lights and a plate holder. They're registered with the DVLA and come with a V5C, and if one has been derestricted we need to know.
Talaria or Sur-Ron?
Talaria's bikes sit in the same class as the Sur-Ron Light Bee X, and riders compare them constantly. We buy both and price them the same way, so a good Talaria isn't marked down for not being a Sur-Ron. On either brand the pack counts most, and our e-moto battery value guide covers how we read it.
Where they differ is in the detail. Controllers and parts are brand-specific, so we'll ask what's fitted, and because model names wander we read the VIN plate against your receipt to be sure we're pricing the right bike.
Talaria paperwork and the 17-digit VIN
Nothing gets paid on a Talaria until we've seen your ID and proof it's yours, and read the VIN. Clean paperwork pays.
Bring these for a Talaria sale
- Photo ID matching the name on the receipt or V5C.
- The dealer invoice, or failing that an order email or bank statement showing the purchase.
- Your finance agreement, if there is one.
- For an L1E, the V5C.
- A photo of the 17-character VIN. It's on the head tube or the right side of the front down tube, and your owner's manual shows the spot.

Talarias we can't take
No proof you own it? Then we can't buy it. A VIN that's been ground off or altered rules it out too, as does a missing one. So does a police seizure or an open investigation.

Where a Talaria can be ridden
Most Sur-Ron, Talaria, Stark Varg and E Ride Pro models are not road legal. They're for private land with the landowner's permission, and tracks. We never suggest riding a non-road-legal bike on public roads.
A registered L1E Talaria can use the road, as long as it's taxed and insured and the rider holds the right licence. An off-road Sting or XXX can't. Sur-Rons fall under the same law, so our explainer on Sur-Ron and Talaria road legality covers your bike too.

Sting or Sting R: does it matter?
It does. Being newer and higher-spec, with a bigger 45Ah pack, the Sting R usually fetches more.
Can a Talaria go on the road?
Only an L1E version registered with a V5C. Standard off-road Stings and XXXs can't.
My Talaria came without a receipt. Will you still buy it?
Possibly. A bank statement showing the payment often does the job, or the order confirmation, read against the VIN.
Do you buy the Sting Pro?
Yes. Choose Talaria and the nearest model on the form, then tell us it's a Pro (MX5).
