Sting or Sting R: why it matters
To sell your Talaria Sting, the version is the first thing that moves the price. Newer of the two is the Sting R (MX4), which carries a 45Ah pack where the original has 38Ah. You'll spot one by the OLED screen and the wider rear wheel, and the regen on an R is adjustable. Expect a higher figure.
Not sure which you own? Look at the receipt first. If that doesn't say, the VIN label on the frame will, and a photo of the display often tells us too. If you've got the newer Sting Pro (MX5), pick the nearest model on the form and mention it.

We buy modified Stings. List every change and who made it.
Sting controllers and regen settings
Aftermarket controllers made for the Sting can add plenty of power, and we'll want the make and how it's set up. Changed the ride modes or regen on the stock controller? Tell us, or reset them before we arrive. A new controller doesn't alter the law: an off-road Sting stays off-road.
Bigger or higher-voltage Sting packs
These need a controller that can handle them, so tell us the pairing. Branded packs with paperwork add value. Unknown ones add far less.
Sting forks and brakes
Serviced suspension with receipts helps. Sprockets are easy to swap back, so they barely count.
Stock Sting parts you kept
Hand them over with the bike. Being able to return it to factory form adds to what we can pay.
Sting battery health: 38Ah or 45Ah
Is it the 38Ah pack or the 45Ah? Its age matters, and so does a rough charge count. Weeks sat flat can hurt a pack, so mention it if yours was left over a winter. Photos of the display help if they show the charge or a health figure.

Sting paperwork and VIN location
Before we pay for a Sting we check who you are and that it's yours, then read the VIN, which is 17 characters long and sits near the front of the frame (your Sting manual marks the exact spot). For proof, the dealer's invoice in your name is ideal. Lost it? An order email or a bank entry for the payment can stand in. Finance paperwork counts as well. An L1E needs its V5C.
Finance still running? Your lender is cleared first and you get the rest: see how selling with finance left works. We can't take a Sting with a tampered VIN. If there's no proof you own it, or police have seized it, the answer is also no.
Where a Sting can legally be ridden
Most Sur-Ron, Talaria, Stark Varg and E Ride Pro models are not road legal. They're for private land with the landowner's permission, and tracks. We never suggest riding a non-road-legal bike on public roads.
Only a registered Sting L1E or Sting R L1E may go on the road, and derestricting either one takes it out of road-legal trim, so tell us if that's been done. Sur-Ron riders face exactly the same law, set out in our guide to Sur-Ron and Sting road rules.

Can a Talaria Sting be ridden on the road?
Only an L1E Sting or Sting R registered with a V5C. Off-road versions can't.
I bought my Sting used and have no receipt. Can I sell it?
Often. A bank record of what you paid can prove it, as can the order email. We check whichever you send against the VIN on the frame.
What's my Talaria Sting worth?
A photo of the VIN label is the most useful thing you can send. Add the display and the pack, then the whole bike.
