Selling a quad bike on Sheppey: ME11 and ME12

Queenborough and Rushenden are ME11. Everything else is ME12, right out to Harty. Most people live at the west end round Sheerness and Minster. East of Minster it thins into farmland, and past the cliffs at Warden come the holiday parks at Leysdown. For the mainland, see our Kent collection areas.

Marsh grazing at Elmley and Harty

Sheep and cattle graze the marshes along the Swale from Rushenden round to Harty, and on those farms it's a quad that goes out to check the stock. Elmley National Nature Reserve is a working farm with grazing stock. Harty is about as remote as Kent gets, at the end of long tracks on the far east of the island, and we'll still get there. Just tell us how soft the ground is and how many gates there are.

Arable land round Eastchurch

Through the middle of the island the farms are arable, and round Eastchurch they run UTVs to move kit and people across big, flat fields.

Family quads and e-bikes in Minster and Halfway

The machines from homes in Minster and Halfway are a different sort. An outgrown kids' quad. A sports quad nobody rides now. Electric dirt bikes too, and we take those standard or modified.

Most Sur-Ron, Talaria, Stark Varg and E Ride Pro models are not road legal. They're for private land with the landowner's permission, and tracks. We never suggest riding a non-road-legal bike on public roads.

Salt wind and rust at Leysdown and Warden

Sheppey is flat and exposed. Salt wind gets into everything. Rusty frames and seized brakes are normal here. Tired wiring too. It's all priced in. If yours has stopped altogether, our notes on selling a quad that's stopped running will help.

Over the Sheppey Crossing to Queenborough

There's no need to trailer anything off the island, because we cross the Swale ourselves on the A249 Sheppey Crossing, which runs beside the old Kingsferry Bridge. The A2500 Lower Road takes us east towards Eastchurch, and Leysdown Road carries on to Leysdown and Harty.
